Turnkey Shredding System Installation with Cart Tipper, Conveyor and Pneumatic Discharge

REI recently completed another custom turnkey recycling system installation, designed to help the customer improve material flow, streamline handling and create a more reliable shredding process from start to finish.

This system brings together several key pieces of equipment, including a heavy-duty cart tipper, infeed conveyor, dual shaft shredder and pneumatic discharge system. Each component was integrated into a complete material handling layout built around the customer’s space, workflow and production needs.

From system design and equipment integration to installation, startup and support, our team worked closely with the customer to deliver a shredding operation built for safety, reliability and consistent performance.

Turnkey Project Overview

For this project, the customer needed a complete shredding system that could simplify the way material is loaded, processed and discharged. Instead of relying on separate pieces of equipment or unnecessary manual handling, REI designed a more efficient flow that allows material to move through the system in a controlled, consistent sequence.

The system starts with a heavy-duty cart tipper that allows material to be loaded into the process with less manual labor. From there, the material is fed onto the infeed conveyor, which carries it into the dual shaft shredder. After shredding, the processed material is discharged through a pneumatic system designed to keep material moving efficiently to the next stage of the operation.

This type of turnkey approach is especially valuable when the goal is not just to install equipment, but to make the entire process work better together.

Equipment Included in the System

This installation featured:

  • Heavy-duty cart tipper
The cart tipper helps reduce manual dumping and supports a more controlled feed process into the system.

  • Infeed conveyor
The conveyor provides consistent material movement from the loading area into the shredder, helping support smoother operation and improved workflow.
  • Dual shaft shredder
The dual shaft shredder provides the power needed to process material efficiently while supporting dependable day-to-day performance.
  • Pneumatic discharge system
The pneumatic discharge system moves processed material away from the shredder and helps maintain steady throughput after shredding.
  • Integrated guarding and system layout
Safety guarding and equipment placement were incorporated into the layout to support operator safety, access and long-term usability.

Built Around the Customer’s Operation

Every recycling facility has different requirements. Floor space, material type, loading methods, discharge needs, operator access and production goals all affect how a system should be designed.

On this project, our team focused on more than simply placing equipment in the facility, we looked at how the system would be used every day, how material would enter and exit the process, and how the equipment needed to work together as one complete operation.

The result is a streamlined shredding system that supports:

  • Improved material flow
  • Reduced manual handling
  • More consistent feed into the shredder
  • Efficient discharge after processing
  • Better use of available floor space
  • A safer and more organized production area
  • Long-term reliability and serviceability

Our team managed the installation process from the equipment layout through startup, helping the customer move from project planning to a fully installed shredding operation.

This included coordination around equipment placement, system flow, safety considerations and operational readiness.

Frequently Asked Questions

This project was turnkey because REI handled the system as a complete solution, not just an equipment sale. Our team supported the customer through system design, equipment integration, installation and startup so the cart tipper, conveyor, shredder and discharge system worked together as one operation.

The cart tipper was included to make material loading easier, safer and more consistent. Instead of relying on operators to manually dump or stage material at the conveyor, the cart tipper allows bulk material to be lifted and fed into the system in a controlled way.

The infeed conveyor carries material from the cart tipper area into the dual shaft shredder. This helps maintain a steadier feed rate, reduces unnecessary handling and keeps the shredding process moving without requiring constant manual feeding at the shredder opening.

The dual shaft shredder is the main processing component of the system. Once material is fed from the conveyor into the shredder, the machine reduces it to the needed size so it can be moved through the pneumatic discharge system for the next stage of handling.

The pneumatic discharge system was added to move shredded material away from the machine efficiently after processing. This helps prevent material buildup around the shredder, improves downstream handling and supports more consistent throughput across the full system.

The system was laid out to create a clear material flow from loading to discharge. The cart tipper feeds the conveyor, the conveyor feeds the shredder, and the pneumatic system carries processed material away from the shredder. This reduces unnecessary steps and helps the customer maintain a cleaner, more organized shredding operation.
